What is breast cancer?
Breast cancer
is a type of malignant tumor that starts in the breast cells. Breast cancer is
a group of malignant tumor cells that rapidly develop in the surrounding
tissues and can spread to other areas of the body. This disease occurs almost
exclusively in women, but there have been some cases in which men also suffer
from this disease.
How common is breast cancer?
Breast cancer
is very common in women. In one lifetime, this disease affects one in every
eight women. This disease can be prevented by reducing the risk factors.
Consult your doctor for more information.
What are the symptoms of breast cancer?
Many
different symptoms of breast cancer are seen in different patients. The main
symptoms of breast cancer are described below:
- Lump in one breast
- Bleeding from the nipple
- Diffeomorphism
- Changes in the skin above the breast
- Skin peeling around the nipple or breast
- Red or orange upper breast
What causes breast cancer?
The causes of
breast cancer are yet to be ascertained properly. Experts only know that breast
cells start growing abnormally in this problem, which causes lumps in the
breast. This lump of cells can spread to tissue and other parts of the body.
Doctors have
estimated that about 5–10% of breast cancer cases are mostly genetic. These
genes have been identified as gene 1 (BRCA1) and breast cancer gene 2 (BRCA2).
If someone in your family has ever suffered from breast cancer, you can get a
blood test done to detect these genes.
Know the reason of danger:
- The probability of getting breast cancer increases with age.
- If someone in your family has had breast cancer before, such as a mother, daughter, or sister.
- The BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes or other genes increase the risk of breast cancer.
- Consumption of alcohol.
- Excess of breast tissue on mammogram.
- Effect of estrogen made by the body on breast tissue.
- Periods begin at an early age.
- Being pregnant when old or never getting pregnant.
- Being late menopause.
- Taking hormones such as estrogen combined with progestin for menopause.
- obesity.
- Never before had invasive breast cancer, ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), or lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS).

How is breast cancer diagnosed?
If you notice
any change in your breasts, get your doctor checked. To detect breast cancer,
your doctor may use the following tests and procedures:
Physical test and check your history:
An
examination of the body is done to check for common symptoms of breast cancer.
In this process signs of the disease are examined, such as a breast lump or
something that seems unusual. The patient's health habits and history of past
diseases and treatments are also known.
Clinical Breast Testing:
Best is
checked by a doctor or any other professional doctor. In this test, doctors
check for lumps under the breasts and arms or any other disorder that they find
abnormal.
Ultrasound
test:
Ultrasound is
a process in which high energy waves bounce the internal tissue, producing an
echo. This echo creates a picture of the body tissue, called a sonogram. Later,
this picture is analyzed.
MRI:
MRI is a
procedure that uses a magnet, radio waves, and a computer to create a series of
detailed pictures of both breasts.
Study of blood chemistry:
Biopsy:
In this
process the cells are removed to check for signs of cancer so that they can be
seen under a microscope by a pathologist. If a lump is found in the breast, a
biopsy may be performed. There are four types of biopsies for breast cancer
screening:
Excisional
Biopsy: In this, a complete tissue lump is removed.
Incisional
Biopsy: Tissue lump or a sample of it is removed.
Core Biopsy:
Tissue removal using a wide needle.
Fine Needle
Biopsy: The removal of tissue or fluid using a thin needle.

According to
your overall health status
There are
mainly five types of treatment for breast cancer, which are described below:
Surgery:
Thycentinal
lymph nodes are removed through breast-conserving surgery.
Total
mastectomy is the removal of breast affected by cancer with the help of
surgery.
Modified
radical mastectomy allows removal of the cancer affected breast, as well as the
lymph nodes under the arm, the lining on the chest muscles and the chest wall.
Radiation
therapy is a treatment that uses high energy rays to kill cancer cells or
prevent them from growing.
Chemotherapy
is a cancer treatment that uses drugs to stop cancer cells from growing. It is
used before surgery to shrink the tumor before removal. It can also be used
after surgery to prevent the tumor from returning.
Hormone
therapy is a cancer treatment to prevent hormonal imbalances and cancer from
growing. This treatment is effective only for those types of breast cancer,
which are sensitive to hormones. Your doctor will use this procedure only
depending on your type of breast cancer.
Targeted
therapy is a type of treatment that identifies only cancer cells without
harming normal cells and uses drugs or other substances to attack them. This
recipe includes the following:
Monoclonal
antibodies
Tyrosine
kinase inhibitors
Cyclin-dependent
kinase inhibitors
In some
cases, you may also need a combination of these treatments. Please take any
action only after discussing those treatment options with your doctor.
You can talk
with your doctor about any concerns you may have about your test.
Lifestyle
changes and home remedies:
Choose
healthy things:
Maintaining a
healthy diet and exercising regularly is very important. You can quit smoking
along with reducing alcohol consumption.
Eating
healthy:
Good
nutrition is very important for the body. Try to eat less and good food. Your
treatment method may change nausea or sense of taste.
Exercise
regularly :
Cancer can cause
